123-reg.co.uk Problems

123-Reg.co.uk in my experience, are nothing short of being a complete nightmare. Where do I start? First of all, they accidentally delete our E-commerce site which we spent 6 months creating and promoting. This set us back at least 3 months, and although we managed to recover some of our costs through court action, we still believe we are out of pocket.

However, thinking that was only a one off mishap we reluctantly take out another server package. (knowing that we are unable to find another dedicated server with the features we require for 39.99 per month). This server did not work, simple as that. We had our domain names pointing to our new server and it just did not work. I know...............I'll ring for technical support.

BIG MISTAKE

Although 123-reg.co.uk used to charge 50p per minute to speak to "technical support", they now only charge 10p per minute. However, please do not be fooled by this. When they were charging 50p per minute, at least you would not be charged until somebody picked up the phone at the other end. Now however, you are charged from the start and have the pleasure of listening to at least 20 minutes of classical music. I have tried contacting 123-reg many times, and 20 minutes is the shortest I have had to wait, the longest being 1 hour 15 minutes. Then somebody picks up the phone................

"Sorry, you can not speak to technical support, I will have to write them an email as they don't take calls" . To say that the staff on the end of the phone are useless, is possibly the biggest understatement of the year. No words can describe how bad they are, I am convinced that they receive NO TRAINING at all. I do feel sorry for them, as they feel the brunt of the shitty service 123-reg provide, for 5 pound an hour or so.

Knowing that others must have had similar experiences, I began to search around on Google. Shock horror - whole forums and communities had been set up on the back of 123-reg's terrible service.

If you do one thing this year, make sure it is to AVOID 123-Reg.co.uk !!!

Online Memorials and Link Baiting

The concept of link baiting, and achieving better search engine rankings. It is a term which describes the term of generating one way links. It is an alternative to article marketing, and can be very effective. Just like press releases, it is all about getting attention. Number one, great content. If you provide great content, you will manage thousands of key phrases and will guarantee you traffic. The top sites will have hundreds or thousands of articles / pages containing very good, expert information. In our case, articles and information on online memorials / funerals / death care industry!

If I have to fill in another super difficult "verification image" box, I am going to go crazy!

Shiremoor house farm

It has really gone down hill these days. So boring, nothing exciting on the plate. Sunday dinners used to be a pleasure, but now they are a dry chore. Very dissapointed, will not be going back any time soon. Tut.

Pain in the arse

It is a right pain in the arse when you go swimming, and the place is packed with people. You decide to swim in an empty lane which has a "swimming lessons" sign at one end, because nobody is using the lane and it seems that it is a waste of good water space. Then, as more and more people come in to the pool, they change the lane sign to "fast lane" and "slow lane". My lane gets taken over by fast swimmers, so I move in to the slow lane. Then, as more and more swimmers enter the pool, the "slow lane" gets dominated by the slower fast swimmers. I leave.......fed up.
